You don’t have to, you can – that is one of my mantras.

It's even better that it also applies to ClickUp. You don't have to use all the functions, but you can. You don't have to use everything from the start, but of course you can.

You also have a lot of freedom in how you structure ClickUp - and in my opinion, that is what determines how useful it is for you. You can use many different work areas, organize everything neatly into folders and then into lists. Or you can use just two work areas (business and private) and only organize everything with folders on the next level. That is entirely up to you.

This flexibility and openness means that anyone can set up the tool so that it fits them like a glove.

Open structure

ClickUp is cost-effective

Disadvantages of ClickUp

ClickUp can be quite challenging, or even overwhelming, especially when you first start using it. Of course, it is possible to use the tool as a simple task tool (and I did that for almost the entire first year of using it), but at some point you get a taste for it and want to use all the functionality it offers. And then the learning curve suddenly becomes quite steep.
