The point of great advertising is that you don't even notice it. Like perfect makeup or "horsepower" under the hood. But they work the way we need them to. To achieve this effect, it's not enough to be a talented liar or read a book on marketing.
You need to understand well what and why to use, and most importantly, how it will work with people.
I wrote this list for internal use in my company. But I decided to show what exactly influenced the tools I work with now. This is not taught in universities or courses. And my product - be it a promotion strategy for a person or a company - is the result of multiple experiments with advertising, practice from worthy books, the experience of business monsters and human intuition.
So, I am sharing with you a piece of my invaluable reading list. Each book here has become the material for building my professional foundation. And thanks to this knowledge, I can explain every word and every step that I suggest my clients say and do.
Dan Ariely
Dan Ariely " Predictably Irrational "
For me, this is the main book on behavioral psychology. Dan Ariely japan mobile phone numbers database conducted a lot of experiments and made an excellent base for marketers all over the world. Now it is being torn apart into quotes and examples. And if you read Predictably Irrational, you will find examples from it everywhere - in blogs, lectures, other books. So, if you are damn lazy, read it and calm down.
It makes it clear why we make certain decisions, how our attitude towards a product depends on its price or packaging, what our sequential thinking can do to us and how to use it in our insidious manipulations.
Be careful, after reading this you want to run and experiment with advertising (at least for me).
Robert Cialdini
Robert Cialdini " Psychology of Influence "
The second important book. Once you read it, everything else will become completely uninteresting.
This is the basics, social psychology in action - the book clearly explains how we can be manipulated and why we fall for manipulation. At the end of reading, you feel like a blind man whose blindfold has been removed, and you begin to understand why the commercial world around you is structured this way. Everything Cialdini talks about is applicable in practice here and now. It will be especially interesting for those who have their own business.
Henrik Fexeus: " How to read other people's minds " and " How not to be fooled "
Fexeus did not discover America, but he did an important job - he collected all the cream of useful information from such monsters as Cialdini, Arieli and Zimbardo, chewed them up, and diluted them with examples from life.
After reading it, you have the feeling that you have read it somewhere before (especially if you have already dealt with Cialdini and Arieli). But it is always useful to refresh your memory.
I perceive his books as notes on important topics. And I look at them sometimes for prevention.
If you are a very lazy person, just read these books and stop.
Phil Barden
Phil Barden: "Hacking Marketing: The Science of Why We Buy"
The book is worthy of being on the list. It has many references to the currently fashionable neuromarketing. The main value is in explaining how a modern person makes decisions. The book has many examples, references to real brands and situations.
The author examines our purchasing decisions in the context of many details, from the aura that surrounds a brand to the biological characteristics of a person.
And of course, after reading the book, you will be able to show off the terms “explicit” and “implicit”.
The book is worthy, everything can be applied in practice. Which is what those who are as greedy for knowledge and experiments as I am want to do.
Informative for any business - from private entrepreneurs to large corporations.

Gavin Kennedy
Gavin Kennedy " Everything Can Be Negotiated "
I have said many times that this book has changed me and my life. And my approach to negotiations and getting what I want. Gavin is a master negotiator. Which means he is also a master manipulator. He does not tell you how to promote yourself, but when clients come to you, the book will become a guide to the best deals.
Gavin wrote it like a textbook. In each chapter, the author analyzes different situations, some of which damn accurately plunge us into our own experience. For example, if you were once promised mountains of gold and great prospects in exchange for "working for an idea," you became a victim of the "producer effect." Gavin looks at such situations from different angles and tells how to emerge victorious from such negotiations. Everyone should read the book - because the art of negotiating and seeing how you are being manipulated will come in handy even when communicating with a 2-year-old child. What can we say about business sharks?
