What are the trends in cross-border EC?

It may be a little late to ask, but what is cross-border e-commerce?
Cross-border e-commerce is defined as "electronic commerce (purchasing) between a consumer and a party whose nationality is outside the country in which the consumer resides." In other words, it is purchasing through e-commerce from a seller or provider in a country outside the one in which the consumer resides.
In this article, we will look at data on the progress over the past three years, the present, and the future of cross-border e-commerce between Japan, China, and the United States.
Figure 3 shows the cross-border e-commerce usage rate among e-commerce users in 2013. In China, where the economy is booming, the cross-border e-commerce usage rate is 35.4%, three times that of Japan. This shows just how much Chinese people are shopping on the Internet.



Furthermore, we have plotted the market trends to oman mobile phone numbers database see how much the US and China are purchasing goods from Japan through cross-border e-commerce (Figure 4). While the US is experiencing a sluggish growth rate, China is experiencing a steady growth rate.




3. Cross-border e-commerce market size among Japan, the United States, and China in 2013
According to a survey published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on August 26, 2014, the cross-border e-commerce market size in fiscal year 2013 was 1.7 trillion yen.
(Figure 5) shows the market size of cross-border e-commerce between Japan, China and the United States in 2013.
From this, Chinese users purchased 390.2 billion yen from e-commerce sites, and American users purchased 432.3 billion yen from e-commerce sites. And we can see that Chinese users purchased 807.2 billion yen from cross-border e-commerce, the largest among the three countries.
From the perspective of us Japanese, we don't often purchase products from overseas sites. This is generally the case, but when we look at the cross-border e-commerce data by country, we see that overseas users, especially Chinese users in (Figure 5), are eager to shop on Japanese sites.
In any case, Japan has a large trade surplus with both the United States and China in cross-border e-commerce. Also, according to the forecast of the cross-border e-commerce market size in 2020, the minimum amount that Chinese users will purchase from Japan will be 277.2 billion yen, and the maximum amount will be 940.3 billion yen. It is estimated that the amount of purchases that American users will make from Japan will be a minimum of 72.4 billion yen and a maximum of 92.5 billion yen (Figure 6).
The cross-border EC market size will continue to grow in the future.
