This time, we compared and analyzed various e-commerce payment methods in Japan and European countries.
The data makes it easy to understand, but the total population of the UK, France, and Germany exceeds 200 million, and the size of the e-commerce market is 27 trillion yen (as of 2013), which is about 2.3 times that of Japan.

In the UK, credit cards are the most popular payment method, and can be used anywhere, including supermarkets and online shops. 40% of online purchases are paid for by credit card, and 30% by debit card. Credit cards are also popular in France. Carte-Blue and debit cards are also used. Carte-Blue allows debit and credit cards to be used together. Others are Visa and Paypal. There are 8 million Paypal account users in France, making it the third largest in Europe. The average French consumer does not prefer other payment methods, preferring CM-CIC Palement, Hipay, Moneo, paysafecard, and bank transfers.
