Data science in action means real people coming together to advance the field through collaboration, experimentation, and networking. That’s why DataCamp Donates partner organizations are required to meet regularly with their students.

Some partner organizations take these meetups a step further and organize multi-day conventions and hackathons, such as the ENSIAS AI Club in Algeria, and generously include DataCamp as a sponsor.

AI enthusiasts and innovators gathered in Aligiers from 16 to 18 February 2024 for the flagship event of the year of the ENSIAS AI Club, partner of Donates, the AI Day V2, sponsored by the HPS Foundation and the Dislog Group Foundation .

Why DataCamp exists Donate
DataCamp Donates’ mission is simple: Provide free data and AI education to those who need it most.

We live in a time of profound geopolitical uncertainty. The result: displacement, personal loss, increased poverty and reduced access to resources.

One of the best tools we have to improve any individual situation - education - is one of the first to be eliminated after a political, economic or environmental crisis.

However, with the advent of decentralized education, fueled by online learning opportunities, providing access to quality education is now possible on a large scale.

With DataCamp Donates, we have the opportunity to provide free data and AI learning—some of the most in-demand skills in the world—to every corner of the globe.

At the time of writing, together with our Aulas DataCamp initiative, we have offered more than 1 million scholarships worldwide.

Free. And we've only just begun.

Phodiso Mogots, an alumna of Unleashing Africa Institute in Botswana, a partner of DataCamp Donates Innovation Kgotla, illustrates the transformative power of data and AI learning for both herself and her community.

Thanks to her job as a data analyst at Youth Impact, she received a 100% salary increase, and can now offer similar opportunities to young people in her country.

"[Before DataCamp Donates], I was working part-time as a tutor and teacher. The pay was not very stable (every two months). I used DataCamp to learn R and SQL and expand my Excel skills. By gaining data analysis skills, I gained a new career and a sense of stability. I loved the program."

More than 25 DataCamp Donates partner organizations were invited to participate in the compilation of their groups' best portfolios.

Not only do we learn best by doing, but employers need to see applications alongside evidence of learning. Portfolios are a fantastic way to encourage deeper application and inspire learners to test their skills with more complex projects.

The results were sophisticatedly surprising and came from all corners of the world. In this blog post , we salute the students and administrators of the winning organizations: Gaza Sky Geeks in the West Bank, Code to Inspire in Afghanistan, Ingressive for Good across Africa, FTW Foundation in the Philippines, and the global Women in Data community.
