The latest tool in our website protection arsenal, available for FREE on all hosting plans, is the option to easily block traffic coming to your site from specific countries. Not only will this increase the security of your website, but it can also help website performance by decreasing resource usage by blocking traffic coming from locations you’d rather not receive traffic from.
When to consider blocking traffic from a specific country?
There are different reasons why someone would want to block traffic from a specific country to their site, but the most common ones are:
To stop malicious traffic
If you notice abnormally high traffic from a country that your site doesn't target as an audience, or you start getting too many spam comments from that country on your blog posts, or you identify any other behavior that you find suspicious, coming from a geographic region that is not your primary user target, it may be a good idea to block traffic from this location.

Our new country blocking option is also fully compatible with our SiteGround CDN and visitors from blocked countries will not be able to access your website pages regardless of whether you have our CDN service enabled or not.
