We spoke to Desirée Vila (Gondomar, Pontevedra; June 15, 1998), Paralympic athlete and ambassador of the Adecco Foundation, who will compete in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on September 2 and 4. A conversation in which we not only talked about sport, but also about training and employment.

For those of you who don't know her yet, Desirée is one of the most promising athletes in Spanish athletics and a person who, with her daily example, is transforming the way we see and understand disability. Her attitude and her multiple professional facets (elite athlete, lecturer, writer and YouTuber) show that disability is not a limitation for someone who, like her, fights to excel both in sport and in life.

Now it's time to achieve the biggest dream of all: to win a medal and taste sporting glory. Now it's the turn of the Paralympic Games, an unbeatable stage to value the importance of Diversity , Equity and Inclusion thanks to the 4,400 athletes with different disabilities - physical, intellectual, visual, and cerebral palsy - who participate.

To all of you, may the light of the cauldron continue to illuminate you, and to you, Desirée, all the splendor and all the glory.

Desirée, this is not a re facing your first jamaica phone number data Paralympic Games. How do you face the most important sporting event in the world?

With great desire, great excitement and, above all, great joy. Having to postpone them for a year due to the pandemic was hard for all athletes. Even though we are still in a health emergency, the fact that they can be held, even without an audience, will be a breath of fresh air for all of us and for society in general.

A challenge of epic proportions that can serve as an inspiration to other people who are struggling to overcome their own challenges, such as finding a job. What reflection would you make for all those who are preparing for their own “Olympic Games”?

Life, like sport, is full of difficulties. Frustration and demotivation often overwhelm us, but we must continue to fight and work hard because, sooner or later, our efforts will bear fruit. However, when looking for a job (speaking of people with disabilities or more vulnerable groups of people) we must bear in mind that it is everyone's responsibility to make this world fairer, focusing on people's talent so that together we can grow towards a more diverse future.
