Shortly Speaking” needed a makeover : the design was outdated and the template was beyond use, the presentation of the content left much to be desired and gave off an old-fashioned air that… Of course, I can’t even remember the last time I customized the template.
But there was also a “fundamental” issue: this blog had been using Blogger as its content manager since its inception in 2010 (with its limitations), with free hosting (and its limitations) and… well, anyway.
That “Short Talk” needed a change of scene, structure, foundation, everything.
When I wrote " The 8 mistakes I wouldn't make again with my blog" in phone number list 2016 , I recognized that the first of them had been not analyzing the most suitable type of platform for creating the blog. Back then, I wasn't considering migrating to WordPress; three years later (everything takes time to mature, you could say), the time had come. It was about time.
That's why I needed to stop. It's been a little over half a year without publishing new content (oh my goodness, that many months?), but I can tell you in advance that I haven't stopped writing (oh, but I'll tell you about that later!). I've used this time to tackle the pending and oft-postponed tasks : migrating to WordPress, redirecting, hiring hosting, choosing a new design. I didn't do it alone (no way!): I've had the help of the BlogsterApp team (Jesús, Sara, and Pablo, thank you very much!), who with infinite patience have been rebuilding the blog step by step and reviewing the programming mistakes I've made over the years.
So here we are, the same “Short Talk” as nine years ago, but renewed.
And as always when starting over, it's time to recap the journey, take stock, and look back to move forward again. These are some of the things I've learned after nine years of writing this blog.
