Google Wing is enabling drone deliveries outside the US

On April 7, 2022, Google launched a drone delivery service near Dallas, Texas, USA, through its drone delivery service "Wing."
Google Wing has already launched drone delivery services in Australia and Finland outside of the United States, and the company touted its launch in Dallas as "the first commercial drone delivery service in a major metropolitan area in the United States."


The initial target area will be the Little Elm neighborhood of Frisco, located about 30 miles (about 48 kilometers) north of downtown Dallas, with items typically being delivered within 10 minutes of ordering.

Outside the US, the company has partnered with Vicinity Centres, a shopping centre operator in Logan, Queensland, Australia, to set up a drone delivery centre on the roof of the centre,
where it has been delivering drinks and over-the-counter medicines, making more than 2,500 deliveries in the first month.

In Finland, the company has partnered with grocery store chain Alepa, confectionery makers Fazer and Crunch Brunch, and is now able to deliver a wide range of lunch items and sweets in Helsinki.



Walmart is expanding its US drone delivery bases
Walmart, a giant American retailer, has partnered with bahamas whatsapp data three drone startups in less than two years and is focusing on last-mile delivery services, putting it one step ahead in drone delivery.

Recently, on December 15th, the company launched a same-day drone delivery service in the three states of Texas, Arizona, and Florida.
In addition to these three states, the service is scheduled to be launched in Arkansas, Utah, and Virginia by the end of the year. There are 34 drone delivery bases in these six states, and the number of households that can use the service has risen to 4 million.

Walmart's drone delivery is handled by the startup company DroneApp, and DroneApp's pilots, certified in accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Aviation Administration, monitor the drone flights.
Customers living within the delivery area can order tens of thousands of eligible products, such as groceries and medicines, from the website, and DroneApp will pack the products at a delivery center, load them onto a drone, and deliver them to the customer's home.

Walmart explains that "orders from tens of thousands of eligible products, including antipyretics like Tylenol, diapers, and hot dog buns, can be delivered in as little as 30 minutes during the hours of 8:00 to 20:00." Delivery costs are $3.99 (about 540 yen) and can be up to 10 pounds (about 4.5 kg).
