Creating a Staging Site Manually Before we get started, you should know that manually setting up a staging site requires a fair amount of technical knowledge. It’s also error-prone, so we don’t recommend it for beginners. There’s also no option to merge the changes with your live site, so you’ll have to manually make the changes on your live site. With that in mind, you can follow the steps below to manually create a staging site. Step 1: Create a Subdomain The first thing you need to do is log in to your web hosting account and open cPanel. From there, navigate to the Domains section and select Subdomains subdomain in cpanelHere you can add a subdomain name. Let’s call it “staging”.add subdomainThen click on the “Create” button and your subdomain is ready. Step 2: Download a copy of the files and database To clone your WordPress site, you will need to copy all of its content to the new subdomain. To access your WordPress files, go to cPanel’s File Manager .
