To help you properly understand the evolution of ITIL over the years, we will show you the versions linked to this methodology in a very didactic way. Follow along!

ITIL V1
It was aimed at government agencies that were beginning canada phone number data to computerize in the 1980s. This version of ITIL consisted of a library with physical books, which surpassed the mark of more than 30 volumes in 1996.

ITIL V2
The second version of ITIL was released in the 2000s. It went from 30 volumes to 9. Despite this, the content continued to be aimed at British government agencies.

ITIL V3
This version was released in May 2007 and began to cover companies and other private entities. ITIL v3 involves 5 books, which cover 26 processes and 4 functions. The major change was the creation of the Service Life Cycle (SLC) concept, composed of 2 basic pillars:

ITIL Core: set of good practices that benefit all organizations, where IT management is essential for improving services;
ITIL Complementary Guides: consists of complementary good practices available in publications aimed at various industry segments, covering IT architectures and operational models.
ITIL v3 gained a new version in 2011, based on an update that gave more clarity to the concepts and added new practices to CVS.

ITIL v4

It is the fourth and final update of ITIL, which was released in February 2019, with the release of the book “ITIL Foundations”.

The main change is the greater flexibility in executing processes. The previous version presented a certain level of rigidity in CVS, which required several stages to be carried out.

ITIL 4 introduces the Service Value System (SVS) to change this scenario. It consists of bringing together various components and initiatives of an organization, enabling the generation of value and competitive advantages.
