Since 2003, for what is my personal experience and my subsequent growth as a digital entrepreneur, this concept that I have read several times in Donald Trump 's books becomes important : " Do you play to win or do you play not to lose?" For me, to do SEO, to achieve results that really make a difference, you MUST incur penalties . If you don't, it means that you are playing not to lose.
You never forget your first Google penalty!
Here are the first penalties – which correspond to specific updates to Google's algorithm – that I encountered:
2003: Florida - As I said above, this is about portugal phone number keyword stuffing.
2005: Jagger - Google starts recognizing low-quality links and identifying link exchanges (I was expecting this update!).
2007: Buffy and Universal Search - Local starts to be talked about , and in general many little changes occur.
2009: Vince - Lower update, but with many disadvantages for smaller brands, perhaps in favor of famous brands. The Rel-Canonical tag is introduced.
Google Algorithm Evolutions: Panda, Penguin, and Hummingbird. Trouble Ahead
Without going into too much detail, these major algorithmic changes were born from the need to improve the user experience , penalizing low-quality content, duplicate content , artificial links, slow sites, deceptive sites or sites with too much advertising and in general sites written with the sole intent of collecting a click without then providing useful information to the user.
